Strip pieced bias squares

Posted on May 2, 2014 at 3:51 PM Comments comments (0)
I pieced this quilt last summer when I had a spate of quiltmaking using a quick method of strip piecing and tube piecing.   Quick and fun...  I made it with strips from Modernology and Floressence by Art Gallery, and a moda solid in aqua.

I quilted this over the Easter break, and although I had originally planned to custom quilt it with circles in the aqua coloured strips and whatever came to my mind at that time for the coloured strips, although I am so pleased that I decided to quilt an allover design on it as the bias stretched alot on my blocks...  (the only downside of cutting the blocks on the diagonal like that)  Much easier to control the stretch with an allover design.

I chose the allover design called "Embellish" with a gorgeous variegated thread in bright colours, breaking up the aqua solid fabric beautifully.
